While I was browsing through the content delivered on the SharePoint Technologies Days in Germany I noticed on the keynote slide the following message:

Interesting here is the announcement of a beta for the summer of 2005.

As I was one of the Speakers on that event I can tell you that this was not an official announcement just planned time frame. But the information that the next version will run on W2003 and SQL2000 was very interesting.

It's completely against everything I imagined.

I was expecting it to be only able to work with Yukon and the new set of web parts based on the same generation of tools as Yukon.

I wonder if this will really happen as they write. Surely unless they are on a tight schedule to produce a release 12, doing it on the basis of old technology (SQL Server 2000 - the name says it all) is wrong.

[Well spotted by the way. I added these slides to the WSS FAQ sites but didn't look at them yet - that's what the weekend is for.]

I suppose that the V3 will base on the ASP.Net 2.0 and VS2005.
