Last week I gave a presentation for the healthcare sector here in Belgium. Hans Delporte, a local MS person here in Belgium demonstrated this reference implementation. If you need a good demo on how SharePoint, InfoPath and Office 2003 can provide a framework for the healthcare, download this reference implementation. It is very cool and you can leverage it when starting to build integrated solutions for this sector. We just need a good IBF case study for the healthcare. Anyone doing this kind of things?

The Clinical Trial Initiation reference implementation for Microsoft® Office 2003 contains sample code, templates, and guidelines that demonstrate the possibilities in using the Microsoft Office System to address critical business issues.

Targeted at developers and IT implementers, this download of sample code, templates, and guidelines is intended to demonstrate technically one possibility of implementing a solution to expedite the creation of clinical trial protocol documents by using the Microsoft Office System. The content provided with the reference implementation illustrates how to use XML-based Microsoft Word smart documents to manage the creation of complex documents and re-use existing content from a Microsoft Windows® SharePoint® Services document library.

From a business perspective, the Clinical Trial Initiation reference implementation for Microsoft Office 2003 shows how pharmaceutical companies can expedite the creation of clinical trial protocol documents as follows:

  • Re-use of existing scientific data and other protocol content
  • Coordination of document creation among contributors
  • Control of author access to minimize errors and delays

Update
