I received a number of emails from people trying to use the cross-site search Web part. I just want to mention that it is actually an ASP.NET user control that needs to be loaded into the SmartPart. You can find more info on the SmartPart in the following article 'Building Web Parts the Smart Way'. Please read this article to first learn more on the use of the SmartPart. If you don't know about it, it will be a revelation (hihi!). 

PS: Internally we are starting to use version 1.2 of the SmartPart. There are some new features in it like the possibility to load dynamically other user controls (e.g. user mode vs. an administrative mode). Jan is very busy these days and will travel a lot the next couple of weeks but I know he will (certainly after this post :)) try to bring that new version into the community very soon.
