My new MSDN article on creating site definitions has finally been submitted so we can expect it to be online in a couple of months, probably after the summer holidays. Since the amount of content covered was too much for one article, I have split it up into two parts. Part two is under way and should be finished by the end of July. The goal of the articles is to allow you to better understand how the site definitions internally work, how the CAML is used to define the structure of lists and views and the various steps on how to package and deploy custom site definitions. As with my previous articles I walk you through a step-by-step example of how to create a simple custom site definition not by doing the copy and paste operation but really starting from scratch. The first part is focused on the initial infrastructure for the custom site definition and the CAML to be used for a list and view definition.
