Somebody asked me what the status of CAML is in the next version. Well, CAML (love it or hate it) is still around. The whole infrastructure files for site definitions are still there. So you still have the XML files with CAML but with the features feature, you have more re-usability, clean separation and a lot more control. The list and libraries forms can be filled up with your own controls, so there you can minimize the CAML but for other things like views, you will still need to use CAML to define them. Another new features is that you can now execute CAML queries across different lists or libraries from within your code. Our CAML girl will be delighted to hear this.
