The Wuhan gig has been a great experience and I want to thank all the people that were involved organizing this - the Redmond team, the Asentus team and not to forget the local people here in Wuhan. They have done a great job organizing the workshop taking care of everything - even the small but important details.

The last two days, I struggled a bit to have all of the content delivered on time but I managed to cover 90 % of the material. The reason why I struggled was mainly because of all the interventions of the press and television channels during the training and the time we took for the excellent lunches.

Also some bad luck... I crashed one of my laptops causing some problems because many of my material is on that harddisk. Some people wonder why I always carry two laptops with me, this is the reason :). I need to try to fix this in Bangalor so that I can access my files again on the hard disk. Reviewing the feedback, students seemed to have enjoyed this week. They learned a lot of new things and they had fun during and after the training. I know some of them are reading this posting so I want to congratulate and thank them also for their effort. Sometimes it was difficult to communicate what we had in our minds but I think we managed well and I hope we can stay in touch. Yesterday, we had a great moment when we distributed the goodies. A lot of smiling faces when they got their O12 bag, sweater, mousepad and DVDs.

The only girl in the room, Tracy (the second of about 100 participants I had in the workshops), was the lucky one to win the golf set. She certainly enjoyed that moment although she still has to practice a little bit more.

Maybe I will return to Wuhan for additional trainings. I will make sure then that I have a bit more time to explore the beautiful country.  If some of you ever decide to come to Wuhan, I can advise you the hotel I was staying (Lakeview Garden Hotel). Again very well organized and a lot of smiling people. The hotel is located near a lake and we were lucky yesterday. No more snow or rain but the sun shining and it was a bit warmer. The photo is not the hotel but one of the restaurants.

Remember the frogs in the container? Yesterday at the restaurant I was surprised to see that all of the frogs were gone. Probably a 'frog fest' yesterday evening. They explained to me that frogs are a real delicacy here in China. And they eat everything...not only the legs like we do for example in Belgium. Reflecting on it, It is amazing how many different types of dishes I have eaten here in 4 days. Every meal consisted out of 7 to 8 choices. Most of the dishes were very spicy so I hope my stomach is not going to cause me too much troubles - I still need to survive India next week and the food there will probably also be quite spicy.

Today I am spending my time in airports and planes the whole day. Left my hotel at 7 AM, flying to ChengDu, wait for 4 hours and then fly to Bangkok and from there to Bangalore arriving at around 10 PM in the evening. I don't really mind, it gives me time to catch-up with my emails and cover some of my to do's here in my Outlook To-Do bar. It will be interesting to compare Wuhan with Bangalore. Not the culture, food and the people, but the way they handle the outsourcing business. Bangalore (and other parts of India). It is the goal of people in Wuhan to become also a center of technology in China and play the role of Bangalore. I have seen tens of classes in the building filled with students learning how to develop in .NET and related technologies. I can imagine that within a couple of years Wuhan will be a city in China playing a major role in the whole software and services business. The infrastructure is there, the skills of the people and they are willing to work very hard. There is one problem that they have to overcome and that is the language. Communication in English is to many Chinese still troublesome, but I think they are working hard on that one. And I will always remember the friendly smiles of everybody. So thanks guys for the experience and hup we go to the next gig...Bangalore here I come. (Wonder what beer they have in India.... Chinese beer was actually quit good :))
